Law with Italian
You can choose Italian as an option in both the Civil and Corporate Law degree programme. Visit the University's Courses Page for information on how to apply, entry requirements, career options and assessment.
First Year
IT105 Italian Language and Civilisation.
The course is open to all students, both beginners and non-beginners. Students develop communicative competence in everyday life and professional situations. It develops the four main language skills, listening, speaking, reading and writing, by means of regular practice based as much as possible on authentic material. No previous knowledge of Italian is required and students should be able to achieve a good level of fluency by the end of the year.
Second Year
IT251 Italian Language.
In each semester there is intensive language work, focusing particularly on legal texts. Emphasis is on significantly increasing competence in both written and spoken business Italian.
Year Abroad
We encourage students to avail of the Erasmus Programme and to spend the third year of their course studying at a University in Italy
Final Year
IT334 Italian Language.
The intensive language course in final year brings students to a high level of proficiency in Italian and, whilst dealing with situations arising in everyday conversation, it focuses on topics specific to law, with a view to preparing students for future employment in the sector.
